Outfit: Johnny Thunder

Here’s a secret: I keep a list of poses and photo ideas that I come across on Instagram, and every time I go out to take pictures, I try to incorporate one of those little inspirations.  In case you can’t tell, the goal of this shoot was to get a decent jumping shot.  I discovered that the easiest way to do it is to keep jumping until the camera goes off–trying to time a single jump was way too hard for me!  Unfortunately, I did not master my facial expressions, but I guess that’s something to work on for next time!

Anyway, in addition to getting that silly jump shot, I was also racing against time.  I don’t think you can really tell by the pictures, but I was shooting during a break in a terrible summer storm.  The whole time, I could see lightning fork through the sky followed by claps of thunder, but somehow I was able to manage a good hour of pictures without any disruption!

The things we do for blogging, amirite??

  1. Your outfit is SO adorable. I’m a sucker for a good dress and some leopard flats. I also have the same problem – I try to do the cool jumping poses but then my face always looks crazy LOL. Love your blog 🙂

  2. I think your jumping face is perfect! Honestly, that was my first thought when I saw that photo on Instagram, “Wow, Devinne looks super cute, it just looks like she’s floating! Every time I try a jumping photo my face looks like a crazy person’s!” Haha. And your dress is absolutely stunning – love the pop of color from your bag too!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Devinne! 🙂

    1. Haha thanks! I did my best to keep a straight face, but it’s SO HARD! Like, I would think I was doing all right and then I’d see all the weird expressions when I reviewed my camera roll. This one was the best out of about two dozen!

And you do great jumping pictures! I seem to recall a very cute picture of you jumping with a bottle of Sriracha!

  3. Great idea! It never did occur to me to make a list of poses or ideas. I always see something I like and wonder why I never incorporate that into my posts. Because I always forget! Silly me. ;P Love these photos! So bright and cheerful for a stormy day. 🙂

    1. Thank you very much! Another thing I’ve found to be helpful is saving Instagram pictures on my phone. I’ve got a whole folder full of inspiration pictures.

  4. I love your jumping photo! I’ve tried jumping photos before, and I always end up looking silly, or frowny. Once I was holding and umbrella and looked like Mary Poppins 😉 (that was on purpose though haha) I have also raced against a thunderstorm for pictures! “Bloggers- doing new and crazy things every day!”

    1. Thank you! Jumping pictures are seriously so hard to do! I can see the strain in my face from the jump and just wonder how other bloggers look so placid. Maybe it’s magic? Anyway, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one doing crazy things in the name of blogging. Anything for a good shot!

I'd love to hear from you!
