Outfit Rerun: Quit Playing Games

Dear friends–

I’m on a little blogging vacation right now.  Once per season, I like to take a week off from life, which basically means I like to spend seven days in bed watching Netflix so I can emerge, like a butterfly, back into the world as my fabulous self.  I decided that instead of abandoning my blog completely, I’m going to do “reruns” of two of my favorite posts from over the summer.  Here’s the first, originally posted on June 11.

I’m on a mission.

As much as I hate Cersei Lannister, girl’s hair game is strong.  Sometimes when I’m watching GoT, I get a little mesmerized by those perfect blonde waves.  While I know it’s just a carefully groomed wig, I’m a little jealous.  want Cersei hair.

think, though, that I might be on to something.  I was looking up curling tutorials using a straightener–I don’t own a curling iron–and I stumbled upon one that has a lot of promise.  Maybe once I really get the hang of it, I can drum up a tutorial of my own.  I’ve actually been meaning to do ones for some of my hairstyles, like that hairband bun and the milkmaid braids.

Anyway, the rest of the look is decidedly un-Cersei: all cheery apples and smiles.  How could anyone possibly dream up awful plots in such a cutesy dress?  Hell, this thing put me in such a good mood that I didn’t even get angry in traffic coming home.  (Although I might have gotten a little annoyed with Moxie’s post-walk decision to lay down ten feet from my car and refuse to budge until I picked her up–all 50 lbs. of her.)

  1. Oh yay! I found another fellow Game of Thrones fan. 🙂 And yes Cersei, does have awesome hair! If you want to see a way to curl your hair with a straightener, I actually had a girl on my blog who made a tutorial: http://www.have-clothes-will-travel.com/brittney-of-brittslook/ pretty nifty. 🙂

I would definitely be interested in the milk braids tutorial! I doubt I’m capable of doing it, but I would sure try. 🙂

And your outfit is adorable! I love the hat! And I have a purse very similar to that one from ModCloth that I have almost worn out because I use it so often.

Hope you’re having a great week, Devinne!

    1. Oh my gosh, I love GoT! I’m not ready for this season to be over. I read your post with Brittney, and I have to try the tin foil/straightener trick! I never would have thought of something like that. And I really want to check out the rest of her tutorials–I’m finally getting interested in hair! I hope you’re having a great start to the weekend 🙂

  2. I adore the outfit! I love the happy cheery-ness of this outfit! You look a doll! The hat is so pretty and the dress is lovely and you look great in it. I also love how you’ve matched it with those shoes!
    Adorable you.
    Much love

  3. I love the idea of blog reruns. Also the idea of taking a hiatus. Sometimes blogging gets to be a bit much. I ended up abandoning my blog for almost a year after it became too much of a burden to keep up. I think little breaks keep something you love from becoming a chore. Have fun of your week off!

    1. You know, that’s exactly what I was afraid of. I knew if I didn’t take at least a week off, I’d just get to stressed out to keep going. That’s not something anyone tells you when you start blogging–it can be a lot to manage!

I'd love to hear from you!
