This, friends, is a dress I purchased from the Target children’s department. I saw it on the rack, hemmed and hawed for a while, and ultimately decided to lay down the $18 it cost to own a little piece of heaven. This is one of the small (no pun intended) perks of being extra petite. Cute, cheap clothes that fit my pre-teen shape? Hell yeah.
See, I was one of the taller girls all through elementary school. When I got to seventh grade, I was fairly average. By eighth, I was decidedly short. I gave up any hope of getting taller once I reached high school, and my adult height is a fearsome 5′-3/4″. On a good day.
Sometimes I wish I were a little taller, like when I’m at the grocery store, trying to get those K-cups on the top shelf. Dating is a little difficult, too, because I don’t quite look my 25 years. Overall, though, I love being short. Not only do I have my pick of children’s dresses, but you always get to stand in the front row at concerts (just ask politely). So much great.
