Outfit: Player

Well, how ’bout this place?

On this gorgeous afternoon, I found myself at the Mayslake Peabody Estate, which was once home to a mighty coal lord.  His mansion, built in the early 1920s, sits on sprawling grounds that boast rolling hills, a small lake (a pond, really), and untouched forests.  After the land was turned over to the county, this Globe-style stage was built in front of it, and I simply couldn’t resist toting my camera over here for a shoot.

Of course, this setting made me think, more than ever, about how much blogging can be a performance.  While I tend to document the things I wear in real life on here, that isn’t always the case–at times, my clothes are a costume.  The poses are part of the act, too, and I think the reason why I feel so comfortable in front of the camera is because I have a theater background.  And maybe that’s why I love this blog so much!  I’ll never be an actor, but at least I get to perform whenever I please.
